The Pomegranate Project has been established to give voice to women who are living in the midst of war, unable to leave their land without a permit, unable to move freely about their country. They are women who are willing to speak out. These women keep their family together, they find food, they are often the bread winners. They are the teachers and they, so often, are the voiceless.
Through video interviews of women living in countries such as Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Palestine, the Pomegranate Project’s goal is to share the stories of these remarkable women to individuals worldwide.
Our first interviews feature Palestinian women who are making a difference for their people and others around the world. They have established a school integrating physically challenged children, researched land mines in Palestine and worked to clear them, earned a master’s degree while living in a refugee camp, have established an orchestra of Palestinian children and had them perform in London, and have studied accounting by correspondence to become an integral part of a college. They have achieved their dreams in spite of the many obstacles they encounter. The Pomegranate Project shares these stories, and looks ahead to sharing many more.
